DOTS, DOTS, AND MORE DOTS...
Hi, I'm Allyson, an independent artist based in Maryland, USA. . After many years, thousands of hours, and a lot of hand cramps, what was once a therapeutic outlet to help deal with chronic illness has transformed and become my pride and joy. I'm endlessly inspired by nature: plants, flowers, critters, and skulls find their way into nearly everything I make.
My work is entirely hand drawn using inks, watercolor, acrylics, colored pencil, and whatever else my vision demands + millions of individually placed dots. Literally. So. Many. Dots. Over the years, I've adapted the term "dotwork" to reference my style. However, the technical terms are stippling and pointillism. These bold lines, vibrant colors, and millions of meticulously hand-placed dots come together to create work that rewards a closer look. Every individual stroke and speck of pigment is intentional. Within every dot lies a world of wonder and a lesson in patience. My average piece takes me 60-80+ hours to complete, but of course that's all dependent on size and the design.
